Volunteer Opportunities in Haiti
Looking for volunteer opportunities in Haiti?
When a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti in January 2010, Haiti’s already derelict infrastructure was further devastated – thousands of buildings collapsed, killing over 200,000 people and forcing over a million more to permanently call vastly substandard tent camps their home, neighborhood and community.
Never has the need to relieve this protracted despair been so great. That’s why The Fuller Center is working to move individuals and families out of the tent camps by building highly earthquake- and hurricane-resistant houses. So far, ten families have moved into Fuller Center homes.
In addition, the Haiti Housing Network—a partnership with the Fuller Center, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Conscience International and the Baptist General Convention of Texas—plans to construct 1,000 houses in the next three years.
