Six months after Beauregard tornado, 6th new Fuller Center home dedicated
Misty Baker and her daughters were living in a mobile home when a massive tornado struck the rural Alabama community of Beauregard on March 3, 2019. Though their home was massively damaged, they continued to live in it in the months afterward, stepping around buckets that caught rain coming through the roof and mopping up water that came through the walls. On Tuesday, Sept. 3, exactly six months after the tornado, the family walked through the door of the their newly dedicated Fuller Center home and immediately broke into tears of joy before embracing each other.
This sixth Fuller Center home in the tornado recovery was sponsored by First Baptist Church of Columbus, WRBL-TV and Kissin’ 99.3 FM, also of Columbus, Ga. Eleven more Fuller Center homes will be built during the 2019 Millard Fuller Legacy Build, Sept. 29-Oct. 4. More volunteers, including local residents, are needed.
