Shenandoah Valley
The focus of Shenandoah Valley Fuller Center for Housing will be home repairs and renovations. The Valley has many affordable housing programs and ministries, but none are focusing on providing accessible and affordable repair options for people on low and fixed incomes. By organizing the informal repair ministries of local churches, the Shenandoah Valley FCH will revitalize existing housing stock, enabling aging individuals to stay in their homes longer and postponing the need for long-term care facilities and their related costs. The service area for this new Covenant Partner will include the Rockingham, Page, and Shenandoah counties of central Virginia.
The inaugural project of the Shenandoah Valley Fuller Center for Housing will be a collaborative effort with another grass-roots organization, Our Community Place (OCP). OCP seeks to foster and provide activities and programs related to personal growth and community well-being with a focus on welcoming and integrating those living in poverty and difficult life circumstances. The planned collaborative project will be to rehabilitate a house in Harrisonburg, Va. to be used by OCP as supervised transitional housing for men with alcohol and drug addictions.
