The Fuller Center for Housing’s RV Builders program will be pulling together roving individuals or teams of committed, self-sufficient, super-volunteers willing to transport their skills and boost the construction capabilities of U.S. covenant partners all over the United States. We are in the process of finding covenant partners able to host these volunteers and will have more information available soon. Please examine these guidelines closely. After that, if you are interested and qualified to host RV Builders, email rvbuilders@fullercenter.org with build dates, work days and times and number of available RV spots (see RV spot standards below), as well as RV cost per night.
RV SPOT STANDARDS:
Electric/hookups/etc.: Emergency spots for disaster rebuilds etc., 20 amps or more electric, fresh-water hose nearby and dump station nearby. For regular builds, 30 amps or more electric, fresh water and sewer three-point hookups
WiFi: Nice to have, but priority is to keep costs low.
Location: These sites can be in the Fuller Center covenant partner yard, fairgrounds or even private campsites nearby. Important is that the local covenant partner tries to negotiate a lower camping fee, something like $10-$20 per night. Campsites should not be free, we can expect people to pay for the utilities they use, and then we also avoid free riders who don’t come there to work. Campsites should be well under one hour drive from build sites.
Guidelines for potential RV Builders hosts
- big/special builds or
- regular ongoing work or
- disaster rebuilds
