PHOTO GALLERY: Visual tour of thriving communities in El Salvador
Vice President of International Programs Ryan Iafigliola recently returned from a whirlwind tour of Fuller Center for Housing communities in El Salvador, including a few fully completed ones like the 131-home Nuevo Cuscatlán II, the 99 homes of Nuevo Cuscatlan I, 50 homes in Juáyua and 64 of El Espiño. Meanwhile, he also saw partially completed communities in Apeneca, La Bretaña, San Vicente and Ichanmichen.
He is pleased to report that home construction continues at a fast pace and that the families are thriving.
“Building transformative communities takes time, money, and a lot of work — a lot,” he stressed. “Volunteers and donors stepped up big-time to make these communities possible, and we’re now seeing the impact. Families are opening businesses or learning skills that get them better jobs. Kids are going to school. And the families are becoming some of the best supporters for the new construction as their repayments keep the work moving.
“And, best of all, the families love their homes!” he added. “And, they have experienced a taste of the love of Christ shown by those who made it possible.”
