New videos highlight project to help refugee families, others in Portugal

The Fuller Center for Housing of Portugal has become a popular destination for Fuller Center Global Builders teams in its first year since transitioning from another housing nonprofit, and those volunteers could not come at a better time as the team in Portugal is hard at work converting a property into six housing units for both refugee and Portuguese families. A pair of new videos shine a spotlight on that project.

In the first video, Fuller Center of Portugal President Helena Pina-Vaz talks about the project and how partner families are involved not only in fundraising and providing “sweat equity” labor but also how they will pay back the costs on construction on terms they can afford to help others get the same hand-up to better housing conditions.

In the second video shared by Jackie Tieleman-Ward, you get a look at what a Global Builders trip to Portugal is like from someone who spent the past week volunteering on a trip led by Chuck Peterson.
