New homeowner in Kilgore, Texas: “You can’t give up on your dreams”

KILGORE, Texas — June Primous has been raising her granddaughter for 10 years and stressing to her that good things come to those who wait — so long as you keep working hard and do not give up on your dreams.

This Saturday, the long-time dream of homeownership is finally coming true for Primous as The Kilgore Fuller Center for Housing will officially dedicate her new home in Kilgore, the local group’s 19th new home — including at least 10 in Primous’ new neighborhood.

Kilgore Fuller Center Executive Director Marc Watson said that Primous will pay less than $600 a month to own the home after years of renting smaller and more expensive apartments. The goal of their work, he added, is to help families build generational wealth.
