Listen to the Judge – National Day of Prayer May 3, 2012
By Kirk Lyman-Barner
Director of U.S. Field Operations
Today the City of Americus and Sumter County observed along with many communities across the nation the National Day of Prayer. The event was sponsored by The Sumter Area Ministerial Association, and the theme this year is “One Nation Under God” drawing from Psalm 33:12 “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.”
Our good friend, Judge George Peagler, was on hand to deliver the keynote speech and he was quite eloquent, inspiring and did a great job putting the event into perspective. The good judge told the audience that we are called to be “foolish for Jesus” — a charge that he also gave at Millard Fuller’s funeral.
Sumter County and Americus is blessed to have so many wonderful and passionate Christians who lift up our ministry on a daily basis keeping us foolish for Jesus as we build all around God’s creation. We are also blessed to work with passionate Christians in every location where The Fuller Center volunteers are swinging hammers.
Let us continue to be wise and follow the judge’s order.
