Manual: State and local filings

Fuller Center covenant partners are recognized as nonprofit corporations by the state government.  Most states require that corporations renew their status annually, typically during the first quarter of a new year.  There may be annual filings required by local governments as well.

Annual renewals are typically handled by the state agency that certified the incorporation, often the Secretary of State.  At the renewal the corporation will note any changes in officers, addresses or the registered agent.  There is generally a small fee due.

The renewal deadline should be featured on the corporation’s annual calendar.

Failure to register will ultimately result in the corporation being administratively dissolved.

Helpful hint: If you want to search for a specific topic in the Operations Manual, search for the word “manual” followed by a “+” sign and then a specific term. For example, if you want to know more about hammers, you would search for “manual+hammers”.
