IN THE NEWS: Fuller Center helps two families have home for the holidays
A couple of Fuller Center home dedications on Sunday — one in Philadelphia and the other in Ventnor Heights, N.J. — helped families have a decent home in which to celebrate Christmas and special moments the rest of their lives. They also each highlighted recoveries from disasters, both manmade and natural.
In Philadelphia, Miguel Diaz and his daughter Summer, were the first homeowner partners for the Simple Homes Fuller Center led by The Simple Way founder Shane Claiborne, a theologian and best-selling Christian author. Their home was a once-vacant victim of the housing downturn and recession but was brought back to life and resurrected by the Simple Homes Fuller Center.
Meanwhile, in Ventnor Heights, N.J., the Nguyen family are once again able to enjoy the beautiful home they purchased just before Superstorm Sandy struck last year. The Fuller Center for Housing in the New Jersey Pines helped restore the home with their Atlantic County Revive Long Term Recovery Group partners after the Nguyen family had struggled to make their own repairs and fight bureaucratic red tape that has hindered recovery efforts in the region.
