GALLERY: Our volunteers have fallen in love with Madagascar
These photos from our latest Global Builders team offer a glimpse of what makes Madagascar such a special place to build — working alongside families, experiencing the warmth of Malagasy communities and seeing firsthand how a simple, decent home can change lives.
They also feature some longtime supporters of our work in Madagascar who have helped make an unusual matching opportunity possible.
Our partners in Madagascar have built more than 400 homes over the past decade, including 99 in 2024 alone — just missing the 100-home mark. And families are paying it forward through repayments on no-profit, no-interest loans that help make homes possible for their neighbors.
That spirit of paying it forward is at the heart of a special $150,000 effort: $50,000 pledged by major donors, $50,000 coming from homeowner repayments and $50,000 to be raised from supporters like you.
And now, we’re almost there.
Just $15,000 remains to complete that final $50,000 and reach the full $150,000 goal — helping our Madagascar partners build more than 100 homes in a year for the first time and expand into three additional communities.
With homes typically costing around $3,500 to build — and homeowner repayments continuing the cycle — your gift can keep making a difference long after this campaign is complete.
