Free Slurpees, 50 miles – By Susan Pratt

How thrilled I am to be back riding with Ryan and the gang. What a great day! The day started with all of us attending Sunday School at Huntington Mennonite Church. Ryan shared with the group his 30-minute speech in five minutes and, with God’s helping hand, found two people interested in helping start a Fuller Center in the Hampton area.

Then, as we headed off on our 50-mile bike ride, we were kindly presented with food and monetary donations from a lovely woman from the Korean church that shares space with Huntington Mennonite. The weather was beautiful, the roadswere smooth and we all arrived in Franklin, Va. safely. We did have to stop off at all the 7-Eleven stores we saw on the way for our free slurpees (remember it’s July 11, that’s 7-11–watch our video about it at the bottom of this page!).

Yes, we did have some flats on the way, but we did get another donation from a woman I gave directions to. The generosity of all amazes me! But the most exciting thing is that everyone (except for me) reached the 1,000 mile mark today. That’s 1,000 miles of spreading the good news of The Fuller Center. What a great accomplishment.

When we arrived at the Emmanuel Episcopalian Church in Franklin, we were greeted by several members, all making every effort to make our stay extremely comfortable. We had a delicious lasagna dinner with cheesecake (Kelli’s day was made), hot showers at the YMCA, popcorn and a movie. I was able to even play tennis with Katie (one of the church members) and her two sons at the local tennis club. And, it was clay! I have never played on clay before. The best part is that I was able to get to know our hosts and their families. I shall sign off now.

Help Susan meet her $3,000 fundraising goal! Donate now.
