First Coast-Jacksonville

First Coast Fuller Center for Housing of Jacksonville is one of The Fuller Center’s newest covenant partners in Florida. With approximately 450,000 households in the greater Jacksonville area (Duval, Barker, Clay, Nassau and St. Johns counties), and many neighborhoods stricken with poverty. We estimate that at least 10% of those homes are in need of some form of repair, with, an estimated 20% to 30% of the owners unable to pay to have the repairs done. These figures result in a rough estimate of 9,000 to 13,500 units in need of repair. The need is great and the First Coast Fuller Center for Housing is ready to gear up for the challenge. They will begin with Greater Blessing Box projects to help those in need.

Projects:

The second project for First Coast Fuller Center was part of the Millard Fuller Legacy Build. The Greater Blessing Box recipient was a single mother and her daughter who had lost her father a few years ago. The project included repairing the bathroom, replacing the roof, and demolition on an unsafe deck and shed. More than 90 volunteers worked on the project with six different companies helping sponsor the work.
