First completed Fuller Center project in Portugal helps senior age in place with comfort and safety
Valbom S. Pedro, PORTUGAL — Daciano Lisboa, 70, has never really had a simple, decent place to live. Single with no children, he had been living in a two-room home that had only a kitchen and a bedroom — and those two rooms were not even connected, forcing him to go outside to get from one to another. He did not have an interior bathroom and kept having to move his small bed every time it rained to keep from getting too wet.
But thanks to your support, the outstanding leadership of our team at The Fuller Center for Housing of Portugal and Global Builders volunteers led by Perry Shull and Gary Voirol, Daciano now has a completely refurbished home that will allow him to age in place with comfort and safety. The roof and walls of his home are now solid and weather-proof, while his kitchen and bedroom have been updated and a bathroom added. Among other improvements, the electrical system has been updated and the flooring improved.
Thank you to everyone who helped make The Fuller Center for Housing of Portugal’s first project as a Fuller Center covenant partner possible. Please enjoy these two before and after galleries of the project (click thumbnails to see full-size images):
