FCH of Webster Parish honored by Chamber as “Community Partner of the Year”

The Minden-South Webster Chamber of Commerce has honored The Fuller Center for Housing of Webster Parish as its “Community Partner of the Year.”

FCH Webster Parish hosted hundreds of volunteers in October as it hosted the third annual Millard Fuller Legacy Build, where eight new homes were constructed and seven homes repaired in Minden, La.

“On behalf of the board of directors of Fuller Center of Webster, I humbly accept the award as Community Partner of the Year,” FCH Webster Parish Executive Director Charlie Park told Chamber President Susan Matamoros. “If our organization was chosen based on the wonderful success of the Third Annual Millard Fuller Legacy Build in October, we must say that the City of Minden and its wonderful citizens deserve this award as much as we.

“And if the award was based on our 20-plus years of building simple, decent houses to help God’s people in need escape substandard housing conditions, then we simply give all the glory to God,” Park added. “This is His work, and we are joyful to be about doing it. We thank you most sincerely.”

In an email response to Park, Matamoros wrote: “Your work strengthens our community by providing one of the most basic of human needs. I know that you and the people you serve will continue to be blessed by your selfless efforts.”
