Elderly hurricane victim in North Carolina asked only for a new tarp but got a new roof

Mary J. Koonce has lived in her New Bern, N.C., home for nearly 42 years, and she was not about to let Florence run her out of it. Last September’s hurricane, though, severely damaged the roof of the 87-year-old’s home, and a nonprofit helped by putting a tarp on it. When that tarp needed replacing, she turned to another nonprofit, the Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders, who now have a base of operations in New Bern. Instead of a new tarp, they helped her get a solid new roof. WCTI-12 reports on the project in this video:
