The Hearthstone BUILDER Humanitarian Awards program, now in its 10th year, will join with BUILDER Magazine’s 30th Anniversary celebration to honor the leading innovators in the home building industry from the past 30 years.
Leaders and visionaries who have shaped the home building industry will be honored at a one-of-a-kind event at the International Builders’ Show and a sizable grant will be donated to The Home Depot Foundation and Global Green USA charities in their honor. Held January 20, 2009 in Las Vegas, the invitation-only event will include prominent builders, manufacturers, suppliers and financial institutions that support the home building industry.

"We selected these 30 individuals based on their important contributions to the home building industry," says Boyce Thompson, editorial director of the BUILDER/MULTIFAMILY/TECH groups. "They each have had a large impact in making this industry what it is today."
Frank Anton, CEO of Hanley Wood, LLC, says, "During the 30 years that BUILDER has been covering the housing industry, these 30 visionaries took risks and developed new rules to shape the future of this industry."
Stephanie Anderson Pugash, Vice Chairman of Hearthstone, says, "Hearthstone is delighted to be working with our partner, BUILDER, on producing an event that recognizes 30 outstanding achievers in the home building industry. Since its inception over 10 years ago, the Hearthstone Builder Humanitarian Award has donated almost $7 million to charities across the United States and we are proud to be able to continue this tradition."
The Hearthstone BUILDER Humanitarian Awards were created when Hearthstone, the largest institutional investor in residential development in the United States, and Hanley Wood’s BUILDER magazine joined together to create an award to honor building industry leaders who have shown a lifetime commitment to helping people in the communities in which they live. The Kohler Co. was, and continues to be, a founding sponsor.
BUILDER magazine was launched 30 years ago by the National Association of Home Builders. Still the official publication of the NAHB, BUILDER was purchased by Hanley Wood in 1979 and has grown to be one of the leading business-to-business magazines in the United States. BUILDER is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a year-long series of articles on the industry, a dedicated section of its award-winning Web site and the BUILDER Living Home to be built on the exhibit floor at the 2009 International Builders’ Show.
