After helping others recover, Dawson Springs man’s family gets new home
DAWSON SPRINGS, Kentucky — The Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders already had been working in this rural community of western Kentucky for a couple of years helping families recover from a 2021 EF-4 tornado when an EF-3 tornado tore through parts of the area on Memorial Day of 2024.
Since then, Joe Plunkette has been working to help fellow residents of his community recover and rebuild their homes as a construction manager for the Disaster ReBuilders. What his fellow ReBuilders did not know at the time was that the Plunkette family also was displaced by the tornado.
One year later, just in time for Memorial Day, the Plunkette family now has a Fuller Center home of their own. The Disaster ReBuilders’ local leader, Katie Moyer, told WFIE news Plunkette had faith that “God was going to take care of his family and that the goodness he puts out would eventually come back to him and he did those things without any expectations of a home.”
