A community collaborative groundbreaking
From The Americus Times Recorder (Georgia)
Over 60 people joined in prayer, song and hope on Elizabeth Street this past Sunday to break ground for a new house. They arrived by car, bicycle, foot, even some pushing baby strollers. The honored guest, Chuck Davis, traveled by wheelchair, accompanied by his brother Bryan Davis and his sister-in-law Irmgard Shopen-Davis along with their three children Henry, Charlotte and James.
The Americus-Sumter Fuller Center for Housing is partnering with First Presbyterian Church to build a new home for Mr. Davis. This home will be built accessible, energy efficient and close to the Shopen-Davis family located on Lee Street just a few blocks away. They will offer care giving to Chuck as needed.
