Bicycle Adventurers repair home in which WWII veteran’s widow has lived for 64 years

Opalee Copeland has lived in her Bellevue, Ill., home for 64 years, the vast majority of those years with her husband who fought in France during World War II. After he passed away 10 years ago, the house in which they raised her two sons — one of whom is fighting leukemia — began to deteriorate. But thanks to intervention from the Illinois Valley Fuller Center for Housing and the Fuller Center Bicycle Adventure on Monday, she can feel comfortable and safe once again in the home she loves. The Peoria Journal Star has an excellent report on the cross-country Bicycle Adventure’s build day that you can read here.
