22 years after stroke, Idaho man finally has own home once again
After Brian Canterbury suffered a stroke at a young age, he spent the next 29 days in a hospital — and he has spent more than two decades living with his parents and working to regain as much use of his right side and manage sight loss and brain damage.
He has improved enough through the years that he has been able to help his parents maintain their home, and now he once again has a home of his own.
It’s all thanks to the Silver Valley Fuller Center for Housing’s supporters and volunteers who partnered with Canterbury and worked alongside him to refurbish a house into the like-new home where he now lives independently.
“It’s been a long time since I lived on my own, a real long time,” Canterbury said. “Thanks to my Lord and Savior, Jesus, I can do what I can.”
The dedication ceremony capped off Silver Valley’s 2024 efforts with presentations of the keys, Bible and other gifts. More details on the supporters who made this home possible are available in Silver Valley FCH’s latest newsletter.
