Let us know if you want to volunteer at the 2019 Millard Fuller Legacy Build

The 2019 Millard Fuller Legacy Build will be a tornado recovery effort in Beauregard, Alabama, Sept. 29 through Oct. 4. The current plan is for six new homes to be built during the blitz week, which will be led by the Chattahoochee Fuller Center Project of Lanett, Alabama β€” Millard Fuller’s hometown.

A massive EF-4 tornado cut a mile-wide swath through the rural community on March 3, destroying homes and killing 23 people. Specifics are still being ironed out, but registration is expected to open soon. If you would like to be on the list of interested volunteers who wish to be contacted when registration opens, simply fill out and submit the short form below:

  • I’m a little old to be swinging a hammer all day; will there be needs for volunteers to help in ways other than actual construction work?

    • Absolutely! We’ll know more about all the volunteer opportunities soon.

  • Chris: I’d be interested in doing documentation – – photography and interviews.

    • We’ll know more about the communications side needs a little closer to the build, Jan.

  • That week may not work out with my new work schedule. Could you use any help the week before?

    • The short, not specifically helpful answer to that is “maybe.” There are often pre-build needs, and there will be construction in Beauregard that begins at the end of April β€” not part of the Legacy Build but still new home construction in response to the tornado. Your best bet is to contact Kim Roberts of the Chattahoochee Fuller Center Project at krobertscfcp@yahoo.com. She will be very busy in the months leading up to the build, but as it draws closer, she would certainly be able to answer that question better.

  • Hancock Church would love to send a contingent of volunteers with all levels of experience. Let us know the details and we will get started recruiting!

    • Again?! πŸ™‚ We loved having Hancock join us before on a Legacy Build β€” and we’d love to have you again! Cheryl, we saw your “express interest” form (and maybe a few others from that area), so you will be among the first to know when registration officially opens and more details are known. Thank you so much!
